1: Be on the lookout
It's unusual for your title/settlement agent or your lender to change instructions related to an electronic funds transfer. Fraudsters will try to mimic the look of your title/settlement or lender’s emails. DON’T FALL FOR IT. If you get an email that looks like it’s from us or your lender and it says your payment instructions have changed, that should raise a red flag.
2: Call, don’t email
If you get an email with instructions that have changed for your electronic payment, don't reply to that email. Instead, confirm with Amrock by calling the phone number listed on our website or business card. Don't use any phone numbers listed in the email, and be sure to tell us about the suspicious email.
3: Confirm everything
Before you execute an electronic funds transfer, confirm the account number and the name on the account with the recipient of the funds.
4: Verify the transfer
It can take up to 72 hours for electronic funds to transfer. If they’re not received in a timely manner, Amrock will call you to verify that the electronic funds were sent correctly.
